Mom Watch on Monday

Well the Mom Funk continued into this weekend. As part of her funk or perhaps to shake herself from it, she's decided to watch less TV, she says it's so she can hear herself think. So where she used to stare at the TV, now she just appears to stare.

I'm enjoying the bountiful lap time, but her intervals to get up are all out of whack. I used to rely on her being transfixed by TV activity and now she is going by some internal guidance system. At least I can still guilt her into not disturbing my rest most of the time.

She says she is trying to think Big Thoughts, but where are the small thoughts like "pet the cat," or "feed the cat"? She says she is getting an idea for her next cat book, so I guess I allow it, for now.

At least my sweet meow still activates the Human Automated Petting Response or HARP.

  1. You simply must keep the Mom in line. The sweet meow does it every time!

  2. My sweet meow renders my mom powerless to do anything else. You need to work it Fin!

  3. Fin, we suggest at least three mews per hour, on average; increasing the frequency in the wee hours of the morning, of course. Not to HARP on anything, of course!

  4. Well, at least she is trying to work on a cat book instead of some useless non-cat topic.

  6. Sweet meows and headbutties would remind your mom about her duty to you. Multiple small thoughts will turn into a BIG one.

Is your mom contemplating another book? Atleast her efforts are entertaining. My SS's papers are so boring that they are only good as sleep time material - one look and you would fall aleep.

  10. WEll Fin, it just shows how MUCH your Mom depends on you for guidance and wisdom. It's a tough job sometimes, taking care of your Mom-but you can do it. Hey! a new book, that's exciting!

  14. Fin, what are we going to do with these moms that just sit and stare and stay in a funk. I hope your mom gets out of her funk soon. I think mine is hopeless. At least yours is thinking about writing a book. I sometimes don't think mine is even thinking at all. She sits in the recliner with Angel most of the time and just stares at a TV that has lots of dust on it. Lots of love, Holly

  15. Poor Fin, we hope Mom feels better soon so you can have your schedule back. We would love it if Mom started a new cat book. That would really be exciting. Maybe that is what Mom needs some staring time, to make up her mind what she is going to write. Take care Fin and give Mom a big snuggle.

  16. poor baby! You are all messed up by your Mama not watching anymore TV! Shhhh...give that some time...she will return to TV eventually! lol

I had to "unplug" from blogging this weekend because I was feeling rather down and I think it was due to too much computer time. I was blogging nearly 7 days a week and in my opinion that is waaaay too much! People get sick of me and I get sick of me!!! lol

love your human automated petting response!!! lol

And...great others needs LOTS of alone time to think their lofty thoughts! xoxo

  17. Humans are funny, Fin...they think they gotta think the Big Thoughts. They should just focus on us cats and then they won't have any time to feel down. But, at least your getting some lap time out of this!!

  19. Fin, I know what you mean! I wish I had a nickel for all the Big Thoughts that go happening around here!

Anyway, all is forgotten when I get those two-handed scritches and baby talk..! Tell Meg that Julie gets those thought spells, too!!

    Hugs,
    Tom
