Heavy Lifting

Well it finally happened. Mom picked up somecat and hurted her upper back and shoulder. We were all a little worried because (horrors) it's her scooping arm (food and litter!!). Who was the cat?

I bet you're thinking it's Quillbert. You're right. You do have to be careful when lifting 20 lbs of puss it turns out. Today her back was feeling better and she lifted Quill to let him stare up at the a/c return vent (he can't get enough of that?) and she torkled herself.

Did you catch that, her back was feeling better. So we have to trace a little further back - to when she lifted me up and I started to flail like a trout on the line. I do like making them work for it. Of course I didn't mean to bob when Mom weaved and cause her to tweak herself out of shape.

She swears she'll be just fine (That's not all she swears - if you catch my drift). Until then we have to take our cuddles at knee level.

  1. Well, we are sorry your Mom hurted her back no matter how it happened. We hope you kittehs will give her lots of snuggles -- that will no doubt help her feel better. :)

  3. Quill, my human shies from Maine Coon mixes just for that reason - you guys are BIG! And she is scared she is going to hurt herself because she likes doing the show and tell thing all over the house with us. I am less than 5 lbs., which makes this the perfect game for me!

  6. Uh oh. We hope your mom's back is back in tip top shape very soon. We can't believe Quill is 20 pounds! It only seems like yesterday when he must've been 2!

  7. The human says she'd never lift 20 pounds of cat to see the A/C return vent. She thinks my 11.5 pounds is a lot to pick up. Maybe Greyson should watch the A/C return vent instead ;)

  8. Prancer Pie is correct. Moms just need to learn the proper lift technique. And she should work up to lifting Quill. Start with 10 pound weight, work up to 15, then 20.

  10. Sorry your mommy is hurting. Lifting heavy cats can be quite a strain. Our mom tries to avoid picking up Mauricio or Giulietta. And Calista is on her way to being added to the heavyweights. Don't you all be too demanding on your mom until she's feeling better. Maybe some nice paw passage would help. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Misty May, Mauricio, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  11. Well good thing your momcat wasn't doing something a little silly.
Love, the Geez Maine Coons Layla and Mush who are pretty enourmous themselves
PS: Our momcat actually posted a blog today. Sure it was mostly about the big furless kitten in our house but still....

  12. uh oh! Tell your Mom to be careful! My mom hurt her arm and shoulder back in October and it got worse. She is supposed to have XRays this week. Doctor is calling it a "frozen shoulder" Dad says it's no surprise cause Mom gives him the "cold shoulder" all of the time.
    Love, Cody

  13. Oh no, Poor Mom. We hope she feels better soon. She doesn't need to be picking you big boys up. Guess you will be not getting any cuddles unless you just get in her lap. Sending lots of purrs to that Mom.
Meg, I hope you are all right. Nothing worse than a sore back Take good care.
