The Incident

Greyson: It all started innocently enough this morning. See, I'd never tried to do it before...

Turns out I CAN jump from the counter to the tops of the kitchen cabinets! I just need to dig by back claws into the cabinet door on the way up for that extra boost.

No one up here but us chickens....
You can tell by my tail placement it was all pretty exciting! It was a little noisy with Mom yelling stuff like "Greyson! Get Down!" or "Be careful, and come here!"

Well Dad woke up from all the commotion and he wasn't pleased! Can you believe it? I thought sure he'd be super impressed.

He dragged the chair across the tile with plans to try to grab me, and the sound freaked me out and I ran. This made Mom yell out in panic and next thing you know I was leaping from the cabinets, making a quick stop on the counter, and then down to the floor... I got down really fast but Mr. Rooster wanted to follow me down...

Mr Rooster is the big guy on the left...
Seems Mr. Rooster isn't as good a jumper as me, cause he crashed to the floor just seconds after I did, but he broke his beak and tail right off.

Seems Mr. Rooster was their favorite, but mostly they just seemed happy Mr. Rooster didn't get me on his way down. I've been told in no uncertain terms I am NOT to go up there again. Will I? It was fun but then it all got a little freaky - so I just am not sure yet.

And Mr. Rooster? Mom feels she can repair him and I hope she's right. I want no part of him. Unless it's hunks of roasted chick-hen dropped by Mom, I want no part of raining fowl.

  3. I think that is an awesome kitty pathway - if there weren't all those rooster roadblocks in the way!

  4. Good job discovering your super powers, Greyson. Sorry to hear that roosters can't fly, though!

  5. Uh oh! Now you did it! That is why humans shouldn't put things above cabinets--they get in the way of kitties.

  7. Oh Greyson! You little daredevil! Although that does look like a great place for kitties.. Except for the roosters. MOL Yeah, I can see it now, they can move that stuff out, put up some toys and cat beds.. and a little kitty step or something to help you get there easier.. It could be awesome! hee hee
Hope your mom is able to fix her rooster!

  8. Oh wow, how exciting! It's always fun to reach new heights, isn't it? They should be proud of your new ability. But that's 'rents for ya.

  9. You are a brave jumper Greyson! Seems Mr Rooster wasn't as smart as he thought he was, thinking he was safe up there.

  10. Greyson, way to go! Not only did you scale new heights, you also helped your humans declutter! :-D

  11. Oh Greyson I am sorry I am laughing at your debacle but you are too funny! (and brave!) "no one up here but us chickens" MOL!

  12. Greyson, you are just way too cute up there on top of the cabinets. And see you made it down and so did the rooster but you made it in one piece and the poor rooster didn't. Glad he can be fixed. What a fun thing to do. You all have a great day.

  13. Greyson, how exciting ! I love to jump to the top of the kitchen cabinet, despite there's nothing to knock down over there ! The more you do it, the more silent and skillful you'll become : your mom won't notice you're above next time ! Purrs, Zorro

  14. Sorry about the broken chicken, Greyson. Our angel MacKenzie broke an expensive antique bowl once jumping atop the cabinets. When the humans redid the kitchen about three years ago, they had cabinets made that go all the way to the ceiling. We weren't happy 'cause several of us and our predecessors loved spending time up there. We bet you'll go back as soon as you get over the trauma of being chased by that rooster. Just do it when the humans are not home. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  16. The boys have had quite a week with breaking the votive, flowers and rooster. The only thing that broke without Greyson & Quills' help seems to be your new computer ( hope your replacement is working great). Maybe they need to find a new hobby ot get a day job. Pretty scary to see Grayson up so high with that strong tail swinging around your chicken collection. I have the same roosters up on top of my cabinets and can tell you from experience that that usually go back together fine with a bit of Elmer's glue and a little craft paint touch-up. I hope the cabinet doors were not damaged while being used as part of Greyson's stunt jumping.

  17. That was quite the adventure, Greyson. I did something similar just the other day. Knock a kitty cat right off the shelf. The mom was not pleased. But I was.

  19. Dear Mr. Greyson,

I have done similar things. In my old nest, I went on patrol on top of the refrigerator and the china cabinet while my staff were sleeping. It was a stealth mission. But once I was up there I realized that I didn't know how to get down. I howled and howled until GranMeowmie came out and put me on the floor.

    That being meowed, well done!

  20. Greyson--take it from us...restrict your practice time to when the peeps are GONE...it's so much more peaceful that way.

  21. well, Greyson, we're impressed :D maybe tell your folks that the roosters and chick-hens would look better setting on the floor...then you'd be all good. purrs,
