Yesterday I revealed my love of soap, and I see that many of you were torn between soap loving and soap leaving. For those who love, or for those who'd like to try, I thought I would give you all some tips from an expert.
- I highly recommend Glycerin Soap as start. It's mild but flavorful. I think of it as a "Gateway Soap." Do make sure the plastic wrapper has been removed, both are slick and it's hard to tell if you're a beginner. Just nibble through the wrapper, it's thin.
- I don't like liquid soap as a rule, but I'm a big fan of Trader Joe's Honey Hand soap (it's imported and not too heavy on the soap). Just lick it off the spout.
- As for the bars, I don't care for any of the "pedestrian" soaps, and neither should you. You're a cat, and you deserve the best.
- I highly recommend the fancy imports (French and English are my favs), or go local with a handcrafted artisan soap. Something with low detergent and high fat.
- I enjoy oatmeal as an exfoliant, as it's a tasty bite when it finally comes loose.
Please enjoy, but don't overdo it. Just a couple of quick licks and it's tasty, a few more and it will make you a bit nauseous. I only indulge when Mom is watching, and I use how fast she scoops me as an indicator of when to stop. If she thinks I'm hitting the soap to hard, she takes it away for awhile.
We just gotta try out some of these... Most likely Spooky will take to some of them!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll stick to cheese, although my momma Ellie has been discovered licking the lotion bottle.
ReplyDeleteJust be careful Miss Fin - that soap may take away your lovely tuna breath!
ReplyDeleteVery good advice there for novice soap lickers!
ReplyDeleteOh I do love a good soap lick. So soothing, helps settle the belly.
ReplyDeleteThe PM just ordered some organic soap made with mountain river water. I have to say it is quite satisfying.

ReplyDeleteI have never tried soap EVER. I wonder if I should...
ReplyDeleteI think you should be careful with what you are doing here. It can be really helpful if chosen the correct soap.
ReplyDeleteYou have fab advice, Fin! Our Mom keeps soap out of our reach since Deli had her 'Ivory incident' and I had a run-in with laundry detergent. If only we could learn moderation like you!

I have never even considered licking the soap. The closest I come is licking the floor after it's been mopped.

Yes Fin, the favorite soap for me is Primal Elements glycerine soap. Very very yummy. But always remember: lick responsibly!

ReplyDeleteThose are good tips on soap licking. Maybe I will give it a try. Mum brought some soap back from Hawaii and it is all natural with some scratchy bits in it. That may be a good one to start on.

We have never tried soap. We think if all four of us started licking soap, our mom would be a little bit upset with us.
ReplyDeleteUh, I'll leave the soap licking to you, Fin. There aren't enough calories in soap for me:) ~Crikey
ReplyDeletegood advice for new lickers!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I think I'll leave soap licking to the thrill seekers. I'm satisfied with basic food and water with the occasional foray in the kitchen sink for dirty dishes.
ReplyDeleteThe nuns made me lick soap once 'cause I said a bad word but I didn't like it too much, maybe it wasn't the right kind.
ReplyDeleteYou cracking Glogirly up, Fin. Not sure why. She laughs at the strangest things.
