Crossing It

I ask, how do you know where the line is if you don't try to cross it?

I admit waking Mom up at 3:30am on a Saturday night might be pushing it, but I've gone there plenty of times. I was hungry after all, my late night snack had been missed somehow. Sure I always have my kibble available but I likes me gravy.

I think the line came around 4:30am to about 5:30am when I meowed every five minutes as I perched on Mom's nightstand like a cat gargoyle. I really thought she should be up and out of the bed already. She had work to do and second breakfast sounded good to me.

I must say Mom is far more spry than I thought when she flails out of bed peeved. Luckily this grannycat has the ability to ignore any crabby human words. She did get a lot done this weekend, so I say it was all worth it in the end.

  1. You are lucky! You have your mom well trained! My mom is a lazy one... especially on the weekends! Some weekends she sleeps well past 9am.

  2. There's no second guessing as to who rules the roost at your place. Pussy power!

  3. We don't let anyone sleep a minute past 5am. It's our job...

    Nice work Fin!

  4. Jack meows, and gets bitey, and then pees on the floor if Mom doesn't get up and dispense the food.

  5. My Mom is skaing her head incredulous that you could do that to your Mom. Me, I understand about the gravy. Maybe your Mom could come up with an automated gravy dispenser.

  7. When I tried that, I was told if I didn't go away and go to sleep immediately I'd get a kick in the fluffy white backside. Can I move in with you?

  8. Training of the human is not very hard when a wise old cat puts a her mind to it.

  9. What you said about having to explore boundaries is a very interesting thought. But maybe your mommy would get even more done if she had a good night sleep?

  10. I've been using the "bitey-n-claw toe technique" as of late. Glogirly's comforter is at the cleaners (something about cat hair) and so all she's sleeping with other than Gloman is a sheet. This affords me easy access to her toes. I must say it's quite effective.

  11. Trust us, your mom has our human's sympathies. She certainly can relate!

  12. Of course, you know best, Fin. Your Mom should have learned that your way is what she really wants!

  13. What was mom doing this weekend Fin? Curious minds want to know. And since I'm sure you were participating, it's time to dish!

  14. Humans have such odd slepping patterns. They'd get a lot more done if they were more like us cats!

  15. Well I think you're right Fin, we wake our humans early too, I don't know why they want to sleep so late when there is food to be served.

  16. Huh. Kittehs pay attention lines? Weird.

  17. Look at all those little extra jobs that can be done when they get up a few hours earlier!

  18. Way to have your human trained, Fin! That'll remind her who is boss and will soon be an even bigger celebrity.

  20. She really should thank you for getting her up that early, Fin. Look at all the extra stuff she got done because of your hard work!

  21. You sure have your human trained well, Fin...our mom would never get out of bed at 5:30am no matter how much we yelled. But of course, she wouldn't get any sleep either....

  22. Is there something wrong with a 3:30am feeding?

  23. Give 'em an inch and they'll take a yard Fin. Never let up the pressure, not even for one minute.

  24. A cat gargoyle sounds like a good greeting card to me. Please stop me, I might be obsessed!

  25. Good job Fin. We do the same, just keep meowing when we need something and when we do need something we need it right now. She tries to go back to bed, but that is not going to happen.
Hope you all have a wonderful week.

  26. Oh Fin our mom is horrified at the idea of getting up at that time. We are lucky to get fed on weekdays around 6:45! You are lucky that you can get your mom up - ours just ignores us no matter what!

  27. MOL! Skeeter likes to wake mom up at ALL hours of the night. It starts with the relentless headbutting, then the super loud purring, then grooming mom's hair and eyebrows...and to top it off...LOAD meows!

  28. How about marching up and down over all the most sensitive body parts, yeowling?
    That works, too :D
    Congrats on your book.

  29. I find bladder-stomping and *just* one claw in ANY sensitive area works well. Of course, claws can be clipped...sigh.

  30. Look how much you helped your human get accomplished this weekend! I have no idea why they can be so ungrateful sometimes.

  31. Doesn't your mum know that 3.30 is when night starvation starts? Our mum has stopped our crunchies so at 3.30 every morning, she pays for it. I, Eric do the head stomps and Flynn yowls.
