Even kittens know that the number one rule of Hairball is Location, Location, Location. For a housecat that means only one thing, Carpet. Nothing helps expulsion like being able to dig your claws into padding.
Imagine my horror the other day when I felt that familiar feeling coming over me while I was on the bathroom tile. I let out my warning meows and was headed for the soft fields of taupe heaven when suddenly I could no longer hold back. I managed to make it to the fluffy bathroom rug thank cod, but the actual output landed on easy to clean tile (not even in the grout). I hang my head in embarrassment.
Mom request here, my sweet girl seems to be feeling a bit poorly since the expulsion this morning, so maybe just a purr or two will fill her Sass-O-Meter back up to full.
Mom Update: Purrs are definitely helping. Sass-O-Meter is filling up. Thanks!
Getting rid of a hairball is always rough. Mom put a big slab of Laxatone in my throat last week when she heard me in the hallway. I hope Fin is feeling her sassy self very soon.
ReplyDeleteFin, we hope you are feeling okay...I threw up a couple of times today myself...but I managed to do it on the carpet much to mom's chagrin...

We've used Praline's suggestion and also peanut butter works great in a pinch - some great funny faces with that one!
ReplyDeletePoor Finny! First, sub-par furball aim and then feeling poorly!
ReplyDeleteOh Finny, Fin, Fin...
ReplyDeleteAlthough your mom is probably thrilled with your hairball placement, you are right to be a bit, well...embarrassed. It's okay, happens to all of us. I have hardwood floors on the whole main floor of my townhouse so I know how tough it can be to quickly find a good rug to take care of business on. Don't beat yourself up too much. Feel better.

ReplyDeleteOh no Fin! It's ok to hack one up on the tile...but we will certainly fire up 8 purr motors on your behalf to help you feel better.
ReplyDeleteFin, don't let one misplaced hairball spoil your lifetime achievement! You know there will be loads more to place on carpet. Don't let it get to you! Soft purrs, Siena
ReplyDeleteBad luck about not making it to the carpet. I managed to vomit on a shag rug yesterday (my brekkie came back) ~ you shoulda heard Dad moan!!!
ReplyDeleteMilo xx
At least you tried, Fin. I hope you feel better soon.

We are purring for you Fin. Sometimes accidents happen. ~S,S,C & F
ReplyDeleteOh no, how awful! We hopes you feel better soon, Fin.
ReplyDeleteOh noes! We do hope that you're feeling better soon xxx
ReplyDeleteWe always do our best to make it to the one and only area rug in our house when we feel a hairball coming on!
ReplyDeleteWe are sending purrs to you, Fin. Hope you are feeling better very soon!
Fin, I'm sorry that you had a troublesome hairball. I spent a while trying to get rid of one today, but had no luck. They are horrible!

Deli hasn't ever had a hairball (Mom thinks it's because I do all her grooming for her) but I do sometimes. My best spot ever was in her shoe. And even better, she didn't notice it until after she put it on!
ReplyDeleteWe're definitely sending some purrs to you, Fin. We love it when you're at your sassiest!

well, it's the thought that matters!
ReplyDeleteHope you get your sass back soon!!

Thank you for explaining the rug theory with the claws, I did not know. Rosie loves the bed to barf on, the rug is second. Especially at night when she's sleeping between her mommy and daddy.

Hey Fin,
ReplyDeleteWe're all hoping that you feel better. As far as hairball placement goes, Jenny finds the carpet under the King bed (dead center) in the MBR is the best place. Alex prefers the carpet behind the living room sofa and Boru prefers the big rug under the kitchen table. You are definitely correct that carpet provides the best base.

Hi Fin, We think shoes are a good place too...they heighten the surprise factor. But you get an A+ for effort!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry she's not feeling well .. my thought was to go visit a pet supply store and get something for it ... like petromalt or laxatone.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Fin, I'm sure you will have better aim next time.
ReplyDeleteI am purring for you to feel better!
Fin it sounds like that was a big one for you to not feel better after it was out. We are sending feel better and sass vibes your way! And don't worry - next time you will make the carpet for sure!
ReplyDeleteI am a pretty young kitty and didn't know the rule about the location, location, location. I shall remember this always and when I eperience my first try at it will immediately run to the carpet. Thanks for the heads up on this one.
ReplyDeleteI hope we're not too late to add our purrs to the collection.
ReplyDeleteMy, that must have been some big hairball!
Lovely description, by the way. Ewww!
Hope you are feeling ok now, Fin. It might make you feel better for the expulsion to come out in the middle of the night when sleeping on the pillow sham next to your mom. The unfortunate thing happens usually however.....mom pushes you off the bed and the expulsion misses the pillow sham and the lovely carpet and falls haphazardly down the side of the comforter and bed skirt.

We know you were doing your best to get to the carpet and/or the rug, Fin, and that's what counts. No need to be embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you're feeling much better by now and the Sass-O-Meter is mostly back to normal, but we're sending purrrrrs anyway in case you need more to get topped off! :D
Purrs and hugs,
The Kitty Krew
Oh BSIF, thank you for your wonderful words on our blogoversary yesterday. I too went through the old posts and thought of the fantastic time we had in Norway. I think meeting you has set the paths of my life in the right direction. Love you too, Finny!
ReplyDeleteYour forever admiring LSIF.
