Dance of the Seven Tails

I'll admit it, I'm very pleased with my training of Mom when it comes to my early morning feeding. I like to show my appreciation for her efforts every morning.

I do the Dance of the Seven Tails.

Tail One: The Attention Grabber - A light flick in the face of a sleeping human almost always works.

Tail Two: The Balancer - Held straight out for balance as I get my sink sips from the faucet as she does her morning business.

Tail Three: The Zoomie Tail - Used down the hallway as I race ahead to my dish. (Zoomie tail is like an upside down J and is the typical tail placement for any running activity)

Tail Four: The Waiting Tail - Swished from side to side while waiting, forever, for her to open the can of food, add my flavor enhancers and make up my Fin pocket. I need a meal after the hours pass with all this prep.

Tail Five: The Ring Tail - A close walk around the outside of the legs of Mom with the tail held out for extra contact. This can be coupled with a head butts to the calves.

Tail Six: The InFINity Tail - The most intricate of all the tail maneuvers and should only done by a professional. As she walks to the final dish location I do a figure eight around her legs. It can lead to a paw being stepped on, so do be careful. She tends to yell something out too, but at this point I hear only the sound of my rumbly tummy.

Tail Seven: The Happy Nom, Nom Tail - Curled around my body as I get down to nom, nom, nom eatin business.

I think it's important to show your gratitude. Don't you agree?

  1. That was a very good lesson on how to use your tail to get the food!

  2. Even though our tails aren't floofy (in fact, some rude humans call them 'rat' tails!) we think we learned a thing or two from your tutorial (or is that tail-torial?)

  4. Hi Fin! My, that was a most evocative list of the many ways the Tail may be put into play!

  5. Fin, you have no idea what you have done for us cats today! The secrets of your tail revealed! I admit I'm a straight ahead tail kinda cat...with my fur slightly askew. I have much to learn from you.

  6. Fin,
You are a consummate tail exspressor! Grace tries the inFINity move a lot and trips up Mommy. Maybe she could pop over for some lessons...it's so hard on our ears when Mommy squeals so early in the morning.

  8. Our mom larfed and larfed at the accuracy of this post. She said she recognises ALL these tails! MOL!

  9. Toby would like me to remind you... that should the tail not be effective... to try the dance of the 7 tougues. Also quite effective and equally impressive!

(As his mother, I would like to say that while i generally apreciate all the sweet kitty kissles, I would much prefer them after I've woken up (so I can apprecite them better... or something))

  13. That was a great lesson in tail use Fin. We have gotten our assistant to write it all down for us. We can do all that with the tail too. Good job Fin.
    Have a great day.

  14. Fin, that was terrific. Our human loved the post title, got a big kick out of it for some reason.

Some of us have "rat" tails, too (right, Nicki?), but no matter, we still can learn from you!

  15. Thank you for the lesson in tail usage. I usually have mine straight up when walking, straight out when running and playing, but I also do the inFINity tail. Should I call it the InFLYNNity tail? I do it when we are coming back from our walks and I know that supper will be served very soon. More than once mum has ended up on her knees in the grass because of it. Luckily I am fast and she has always missed landing on me.

  16. Thanks for this clearly numbered
check list - we can see that we left out number 5 - that's our mistake and it leads to bad service in our kitchen. This morning Lucy was so desperate for breakfast that she lost control and scratched mum's foot - our mum could win an Oscar from the smallest of scratches and the weeniest spot of blood - trouble is it's so time consuming and makes our food even later!!

  22. Fin you are definitely an expert with the 7 tails - we are good at most of those, but the figure 8 is just a bit dangerous for most of us - Virgil tried it once. He was never the same!

  26. We have been pondering on your dilemma Fin and have decided that your should change all your timings so she doesn't know where she is let alone what day it is.
She'll be glad then when you go back to your proper times and spoil you.
