Mom on Monday

I have a funny Fin post planned, but I think I'm too brain dead to manage it tonight.

Here we are in what I like to call Middle Holiday. You are pretty much out of holiday gas but you still have New Year's Eve on the horizon, and you have to push it on through. Woman Up, just when you want to nap till 2011.

You're caught between wanting it all to be over, so you can stop eating leftovers (maybe have a nice piece of fruit) and still keeping up the holiday spirit for just a little bit longer (who needs fruit when you have some wrapped in pie dough still in the fridge?).

Should you put away the decorations, or just call it eccentric and leave em up all year long (maybe change out the ornaments seasonally)? The decorations do look nice, and frankly I'm all about a twinkle light. It could work...

I just hope no one is expecting any kind of mental acuity tomorrow.

  2. I used to know someone who would leave her Christmas tree up all year! (obviously it was artificial)...she used to decorate it for every holiday throughout the entire year!

    That sounds like a plan!

  4. Fin, that's about how it is here! We can't take down anything because of the snow here...everything has to be put in a shed so it might stay up all year long!! Lots of love and thanks for the prayers and hugs, Debbie and Holly

  6. Yes, I am not fond of this Middle Holiday part either. There is nothing less appealing than leftover cat food.

  7. You know, if you do the whole Grinch thing, you get to skip all of the holiday hooha and be a slob, glutton and sot all YEAR round!
    I Highly recommend it.

  8. The leftovers were good at our place...crab cakes!!!!

Mom is being respectful to all and will be home all week with us. Her brain can not be counted on to function mid-holiday. Her lap should funciton just fine.

  10. We are the other extreme at Casa di Momo. There is no decoration except for a few cards and the only thing in the fridge is pasta salad and ham. I am happy with the latter.

  11. Our Mom totally agrees. She just wishes for normal life to get going again. Have a great week.

  12. Our Mom says she agrees with you 100%. She would tell you herself but she is busy trying to find some fruit to eat. She says she is sick of fudge, cookies, candy and assorted other junk food. We on the other hand thinks she will pig out on the chocolate covered cherries the moment The Dad goes back to work.

  16. I LOVE the tree so I'm leaving mine up a bit longer. With the cats checking the water level a million times a day (paw dip) I know it isn't drying out. As for mental acuity.....I have to go back to work at 3:30 a.m. on January 2nd! Oh sure, I'll be fine........

  20. I completely understand what you mean. I was not in a real holiday mood even by the time Christmas got here, and luckily we aren't big party animals so New Years Eve isn't such a big deal for us, but still, I am just tired and want to be done. That and it is going to be close to 50 on Friday - that would be a perfect time to take the outdoor decorations down (but it is way to early - I usually wait til the end of the full 12 days of Christmas because my dad always did). It is very tempting.

  21. I'm so glad to know that Fin's Mom has a voice. I think a regular Mom On Monday post is a great idea. You are very funny Baby Sis!
