Look at the size of the small planter box this week.
The butternut squash is taking over the place!
Look at the harvest for the week.
I was so proud to see how well my cat sniffs are working. Mom was so pleased you'd have thought they came from her. Mom had just snapped this pic when I went off to take a celebratory nap.
A short while later I heard some banging in the kitchen and went to investigate. Once the clanging stops, food can't be far behind, and I like to be on top of these developments.
"Whatcha makin Mom?" I asked.
"Garden stir-fry!" She exclaimed.
I gasped in horror. You heard right friends, after all that gentle tending, she turned around and ate them! With olive oil and garlic! To add insult to injury, she even threw on a little parmesan cheese.
fin, it's the circle of life. and tomatoes in early june? just wrong wrong wrong. if you live in portland.
ReplyDeletepssst...don't tell my basement cat stella that you have green beans...they are her favorite toy! i find them everywhere...under the couch, the frig, on the stairs going up and down...
with any luck, we'll have that particular toy sometime in august.
Oh no! She insulted the vegies, you think? Perhaps you can become a vegetarian, Fin. Try those vegies. They're yummy. purrr...meow!
ReplyDeleteWonderful harvest!
ReplyDeleteGasp! I thought she would snuggle them in bed, rather.
She's absolutely vishus!
ReplyDeleteWhat else do you expect her to do with those veggies? Better her eating it than you, SIF. I infinitely perfer tuna, meat and cheese to garden veg.
ReplyDeleteGeez, Fin, you work hard for weeks - and it's all gone in minutes!
ReplyDeleteYummy sounding stir-fry. I have to say your gardening efforts are quite beautiful too. Sorry, Fin, maybe you can have a consolatory cat treat!
ReplyDeleteOooh...the stir fry sounds yummy! I hope it won't discourage you from tending to your garden, though...
ReplyDeleteOMC! How selfish of her. She shoulda framed them for yoo. MOL!
ReplyDeleteYour crops are just gorgeous Fin. I cannot believe that Mom ate them. The nerve of her. Oh well bet there is some more coming. The stir fry veggies do sound good. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThe people, they have no respect.
ReplyDeleteOh my Ceiling Cat! Is that mean or what?
ReplyDeleteOur mom thinks that stir fry sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteFin, you've done a fabulous job--we know it was due to your attentions that your mom was able to harvest those veggies!
Stir Fry is my mom favorite too..Sound Yum for her
ReplyDeleteBut I'm on your side, Fin..EEK !!!..EEK !!!
What a fantastic harvest. It must have been super cool to eat a meal from your own garden :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, around here, Jonesie does the growing and I assist mom with the food prep. Finny, Jonesie said to remind you that the purpose of growing food for your mom is so she can eat it. You are providing for her, similar to catching a mousie for her to eat for dinner.
ReplyDeleteOh the humanity!!! LOL :-)
ReplyDeleteOh no! Now you have to start all over!
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to make a sign for her Fin "Look but don't touch" and place it in the veg plot.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Oh, no!!!! Humans can be so unpredictable that way!
ReplyDeleteFin, she ate those beautiful veggies? They do look really yummy!!! Lots of love, Debbie & Holly
ReplyDeleteOhhhh my that looks soooo yummy! Made my tummy rumble. We had a frost advisory in parts up here in Northern MN, wonder if I will ever get anything from my garden. ugg. Enjoy!! :)
ReplyDeletemmmm sounds delicious!!!! Sorry Fin, I'm with your mom on this one!
ReplyDeletexxx
I agree with Cory - this is one of the many ways you provide for your mom. Cat sniffs to grow edible veggies to keep her healthy and strong is the same thing as cat spit in her water glass to help her get over a cold.
ReplyDeleteButchering those lovely veggies? Our mom says, mmmmmmmmmm tasty stir fry!
ReplyDeleteYour mom would not haf been able to eat those beautiful veggies wifout your good sniffs! I hope she was appreciatif!
ReplyDeleteAfter all that work! How could she!
ReplyDeleteNoooooooo the complete injustice of it all! all of that hard work for naught! You watch it and sniff it and then ** POOF ** it's inhaled
ReplyDeleteFin! At least you could have gotten some parmesan for all that work!
ReplyDeleteShe killed them!!
ReplyDeleteHi Fin, Jonesie is researching your question and will have an answer for you next Thursday!
