Waive Off

I don't know about you friends, but sometimes you need to have a waive off. You know the drill, you stand at the edge of the lap and you size up your sweet spot.

On Mom, for me, that can be a lay across the lap or it can be the other direction, between the lumpy tender parts. Both have their advantages, and I can literally go either way.

So sometimes I sit on the sidelines and determine which way I want to go. I may be swayed by the "pat-pat" of the hands trying to direct me, or not. I make my choice and I enter the lap. I enjoy a light petting, but it can be distracting and can cause an immediate mission abort (especially if she tries to get handsy on a floof knot).

Sometimes I do a couple of turns, and then things seem off, and there is a waive off. This can take place multiple times over the course of a half hour. It's got to feel right, and someone complaining about "settling in" or "Cod! Don't step on those" doesn't help.

I know you understand.

  2. Fin things have to be just right and when the Mom's go on about waving you lower then it is time to jump down for a new appoarch. Sometimes I do not even go back that day and make her come to me.

  3. I NEVER settle in. I just jump on my human's lap while she is at the computer and keep stomping on her until I feel like leaving.

  6. I virtually never do laps, so I can identify with it not being quite right. I always feel that way. I will, however, stand there and do a push push routine on the soft squishy parts.

  8. I would think making biscuits on Daddy's lap is more rewarding on the whole! Fin you've given a whole new meaning to the term lap dance!!

  9. We know exactly what you mean. Mom is always saying bad words to us cause we go round and round on her lap. We have to have everything purrfect. We need to get our Mom's trained to just sit there.

  10. I like to confuse my mom and just as she thinks I've settled in and am comfy so she can relax, I get up and re-adjust. It throws her off. But you gotta keep those moms on their toesies.

  11. Fin I am so with you on the hand on a furry knot - I just can't relax properly with the tiny scissors in mum's hand. Lucy just does not understand why I leap off at 100 miles an hour!

  15. Strangely, my cats rarely do laps. They snuggle beside me or they are crook of the arm sleepers if I'm lying down. Robert says it's because there isn't any meat on my lap but I of course don't agree - LOL!

  20. Fin, a lap (or whatever) is not ready until it's FIRMLY and REPEATEDLY tenderized.
    Over and over and over.

  21. Any effort of 'pat pat pat' to guide is cause for an immidiate refusal. Humans getting ideas above their station. We cannot be guided, directed or otherwise told what to do no matter how 'nice' they may attempt to make it sound. Let me ask you; do you presume to 'pat pat pat' if you want The Creator to do something? I think NOT! Then for Cod's sake, why on EARTH do you think it would work on Gods such as US?

  22. Oh absolutely, Fin, we understand big time. It's that getting comfortable thing that you've got to do, though.

  23. I like dad's nice big belly best. I tenderise it nicely for him, then I do his shoulder and then it he about right for napping on.
