Saddle Up!

Fin (scared): Mom! Get Dad!

Mom (concerned): What is it Finny? Something in the bathroom got you spooked?

::Looks into the dark bathroom and sees a familiar shape on the floor of the darkened shower::

Mom (chuckling): Oh sweetie, did you drop one of your mice in the shower again? (smugly) I think I can take care of that without your Dad.

::Flips on the light which reveals the largest bug ever seen on the shower floor::

Mom: Mother Fluff!

Fin & Mom (yelling): DAAAADDDDD!

Mom (scooping Fin into her arms for protection): Thank Cod you didn't use the Paw Of Doom on that thing! All it needs is a saddle and you could ride around on it. Oh my Cod, is it moving? DAD!

Dad (worried at all the yelling): What's wrong?!

Mom: Look in the shower! It's the biggest bug ever!!

Dad (horrified): Holy [expletive deleted]! Did Fin kill it?

Mom: No! It's too big for Finny! You need to kill it!

Dad: Sure I'll kill it, but look at her wriggling. I think she wants her turn at it.

Fin: No Dad, I'm good. I wanted to hang out under the bed till you're done here. Hey how do you think it got in here?

Mom (shuddering): I don't know?!!

  2. Does Dad have any taxidermy skills? Stuff it with some nip and it could make quite a nice cat toy.

  3. OMC! I'm glad we don't have big scary bugs in New Zealand!

...What's this Giant Weta thing you're talking about, Mummy?...

  4. So what was it? Something that could stare at the paw of doom and win? Whatever could it be??? Inquiring cats want to know!

  8. We're very glad there was no photo! Our Mom hates bugs too! If it was too big for your Paw of Doom, it must be HUGE!

  9. That would have scared the life out of our mom! She doesn't handle bugs well. Especially big ones! Us kitties, on the other hand, would have had lots of fun playing with it!

  10. Wow! Now you've made me curious what kind of bug could be that big! I sure hope it wasn't a black widow spider or something! Those have fangs.

Well written -- you certainly know how to build the suspense.

  11. If it's too big for the Paw of Doom and even the dad has a moment of swearing, then it's too big for us for sure. We thought we wanted to see a photo, but we think we're just as glad there was none...

We're glad you and your mom are safe, Fin! (And we're assuming the dad made the bug all deaded!)

    Purrs and hugs,

  13. Sometimes Fin, ladies have to step aside and let the men-folk take care of them - especially if it is something totally disgusting☺

  19. Ok I honestly don't know if I would even want to see a picture of a bug that a kitty won't go after! I am so glad that winter is coming here - less bugs around for a while!

  20. We've seen some really big spiders and daddy long legs in the house and wonder where have they been til we say them ... just waiting to attack while we sleep ?

  21. Oh no! I'm glad you didn't try to fight it off, Fin!

  22. {{{Shudder}}} Yet another reason why I love winter. Of course, some bugs move inside when winter comes.

  23. Yikes! That sounds like one big buggie! South Florida has some big bugs, but luckily none of them usually get into the house. Just lizards get inside.

  24. Hey Fin,
Boru probably would have taken care of the bug for you; even if it was a big one. We all gave Boru the nickname "NAFOD." That is an acronym for No Apparent Fear Of Death. We're glad your dad took care of it though; that's what dads are for.
