Every year Mom waits till the calendars go on sale in January, because of her cheapness it pleases her to get them 50% off. Unfortunately by then the choices of calendars are more limited. So she usually ends up with twelve months of flowers in a bucket or something sorta odd.
I always assumed she didn't bring home a kitty calendar because they were all gone. Turns out she usually forgos the cat calendars because she feels like that will mark her as a crazy cat lady at work, when she would hang it on her cubicle wall. I guess she thought the tell-tail cat hair on everything she wears (despite a large supply of lint rollers) went unnoticed.
This year the lure of Kittens & Friends proved to much for her to resist.
Not only are there kit-hens, there are bunnies, puppies, and all sorts of other darling little animals. She decided this subtle page-a-day number could easily be tucked away on the desk and not be noticed. A perfect plan - till she realized she would have to discard the pages of cuties as the new day arrived. This is proving very hard. What harm could one or two pages, tacked up on her whiteboard, do she reasoned... or three? She is trying to hold the line with three, and tucking the others in her desk drawer.
It's only January 17th. What do you think her cubicle will look like in March or November?
Crazy Cat Lady... I think writing a book and a blog as your cat has already sailed the boat to Cat Town, you might as well grab the wheel Mom.
We are not crazy we are just embracing the beauty and joy of felines all around the world.
ReplyDeleteMy mom always buys a Himalayan cat calendar every year! People already know she is crazy.
ReplyDeleteMom actually put the CB calendar up at work...she's letting it all hang out!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, our moms are all kitty-crazy. So, what's new? My SS has cat and kitten calendar all over the house, every year. She also gives them away as Christmas/New Year presents.
ReplyDeleteHA! That is funny! My mom didn't use her little calendar last year cause she wanted to keep all the little pictures!
ReplyDeleteMy mum has not written a book about cats but she helps me with my blog. Does that make her a crazy cat lady too?
ReplyDeleteMum thinks being a lady and owning a cat is enough to qualify you as a crazy cat lazy.
ReplyDeleteMum thinks being a lady and owning a cat is enough to qualify you as a crazy cat lazy.
ReplyDeleteMy Mummy has added Crazy Cat Lady to her new business cards!
ReplyDeleteHaHaMeow...the boat to Cat Town! Is that Funky (Cat) Town? ...take me to!
ReplyDeleteha ha ha! We heard that you have to live with at least 3 cats to qualify as a Crazy Cat Lady....that's momma's story and she's sticking to it. We think she's just in denial. I bet that's a cute calendar.
ReplyDeleteWe too have a cat calendar this year. We bought one from The Good Cats. This is our first year with *a year of felines* as the PM normally alway gets an arty one. She knows she's a CCL. It's OK.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I don't get it...who calls this crazy anyways? They can't be normal can they?
ReplyDeleteMOL!!! Mom says it's not crazy cat lady, it's caring cat lover!
ReplyDeleteOur Mom says it's best to just welcome it with open arms. The crazier they think you are, the more stuff you can get away with.
ReplyDeleteBTW, she's seen that calendar and thinks the little kitten looks exactly like Samson, sans face moles!
My Mom wears her crazy cat lady with pride. Nothing to be ashamed of....I mean look at all those people who feel the need to take their dogs everywhere....you always see them in the car waiting in the parking lot at a grocery store, walmart, the post office....I mean really....is that necessary...
ReplyDeleteHaha! Our mom gets lots of calendars for free from different charity groups. Next year, let us know if your mom needs one...she'll send you one because she can't use them all!
ReplyDeleteShe puts one up at work plus she has the page a day one on her desk. Her co-workers already think she is the crazy cat lady...
My mom usually gets a kitty calendar too, but that's because people give them to her. Maybe they already assume she's a crazy cat lady!
ReplyDeleteOur mamabug always has a kitty calendar...she says when you get to be her age, people will just think she's getting senile and not really a crazy cat lady.....MOL
ReplyDeleteOur mum gets three kitty calendars every year, one in the kitchen, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom. Dad still hasn't figured out why she needs one in the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteHey Fin. This is my first time to your site. I think you are just beautiful. I love all of your pics.
ReplyDeleteCome by and visit us. We have not had our site very long so we're still making furry friends.

Yeah... it's kinda too late for our Mom as well.
ReplyDeleteI like the way that the Creek cats put it. We are not crazy cat ladies, we are caring cat ladies. And besides, our Mom takes the cake in the crazies. There are 18 of us here and sometimes two more wander through here. She is trying to catch the one that looks so young. Or at least get close to it.
ReplyDeleteBut Fin, there's only 1 of you so it might be questionable whether or not your Mom is crazy! With 4 of us here, our Mom definitely qualifies as a crazy cat lady. And...she gets a cat wall calendar every year!
ReplyDelete*snort*
ReplyDeletemom doesn't have enough REAL cats to qualify for the crazy.
We've got a shipmate for her! Our Mom goes to Borders and buys the cheap calendars too. It's so embarassing!
ReplyDeleteIf your mom is crazy cat lady, then my mom has to be committed!
ReplyDeleteOh, and my mom does that too at the 50% off sale....and she does not buy the cat ones either cuz of the same reason.

I think my human knows what your mom is saying. Last year every birthday card she received had a cat on it and this year for Christmas she received two cat photo frames, a cat calendar, a handpainted wine glass covered in cats and a cat clock that meows every hour. All from the people at work...
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking we need a "Crazy Cat Lady, So What's It To You?" t shirt.
ReplyDelete...and Fin, your mom grabbed the wheel a long time ago.
mew!

Your mom rocks. Being known as The cat Lady at work is pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteFin, your mom is not too bad - our mom is keeping every page from her Cute Overload calendar and putting them back in the box in order. She feels guilty about throwing them out!
ReplyDeleteWe don't know about the calendar - looks like it could be kind of cute.
ReplyDeleteOur Humans frequently have pictures of us on their computer desktops, but they're crazy anyway, so who knows...
Be sure to let us know what the cubicle looks like in November ;-)
