Mittens Gets Lucky

I spent all day Saturday (between naps) standing vigil by the backdoor in hopes of family Porch Time. Suddenly my pleas were heard on Sunday, and we went out in the early morning hours for some quality time al fresco.

We were all settling in in at our usual spots when suddenly Mittens came bounding down the brick wall at the back of the yard. I imagine how we all must have looked to Mittens, all of our mouths in an "O" formation of surprise.

"Did you see that?" Dad asked as Mittens bounded into the yard next door.

"Do you mean Mittens, or the fact he had a birdy in his mouth?" Mom replied, still stunned.

"A Bird? Are you sure?"

"I saw sparrow tail feathers coming out of the side of his mouth!"

I saw it too. It was like Wild Kingdom - The Reality Show.

Mittens, the kitty who likes to hang out at my place, was getting himself some tweet action right in my yard. Now I am a lover and not a fighter, and I would never harm one of my tweets. Sure a grannycat can dream of the taste of Finch Fancy Feast, but I've never taken action in that direction.

If Mittens is going to go "Native" in my yard the least he can do is take out Mr. Mocking Bird or Lady Mockington. Even I would cheer that effort.

Mom quickly refilled Mittens dish with dry kibble. I think she feels a little guilty.

Oh dear. Mittens eating your tweets. What will be left for you to watch?
The Mocker Bird by our house imitates a piece of heavy machinery backing up. "Beep, beep, beep" at 4 a.m. That's even a little early for US.

I want my mom to buy your book, but we have a question. Once we get it, can we have it shipped to you so your mom and you can autograph it for us?

I don't like getting feathers stuck between my teeths.

Oh dear, my cousin Q is like Mittens and catches the birdies and bolts off as fast as possible - she cannot go outside anymore.

Hope you enjoyed your al fresco time.

It is such a dilemma - it is the natural course of things for kitties to catch birds, but we all love the birds too...........

Bird hunting is beyond our capabilities, so we are impressed. Jack would really like to get the squirrels because they chatter and squeal at him so much.

Meh, we'll stick to the Fancy Feast...

Fin, you might as well tell your human that no amount of kibble will ever match that fresh birdie flavor.

We think Mittens could have brought you the bird so you could have the best parts. I mean, he *was* poaching on your property!

Mittens is VERY cheeky taking fevvers from YOOR yard. We fink he shud be denied kibble as a punishment for stealing.

Mittens was obviously hungry.

We agree that Mittens should go after those darn Mr.Mockinbirds. They are a pain because they chase us when we are outside. Be glad Fin that you don't go outside.
Our book is on the way. We are so excited. We can't wait to read it too. We would love to have ours autographed too. Hope you have a great week.

Mittens is making me question my mancatliness. All I can do is chatter at the birds...

Such excitement going on there!

We've never caught a birdie here, but mummy asks us if we ever used to, before we came to live with her and daddy. It's part of a cat's nature right?? Now we just like Temptations.
mwahaha!

Oh...wonder if Mittens has been at my house...we wonder where all the birds got to....
But I am glad Mom filled Mittens' bowl! That's a better menu!

Could Mittens come over and help us with the angry magpie? He scared Dushi the other day sitting in the tree with his loud chattering.

Momma gets upset when we catch birdies too. . . but she gives us hugs and treats when we bring her a mole. Maybe you should tell Mittens to catch moles instead.

Mittens caught a real, live dead birdie?

We like to watch the birdies, but we're sort of couch potatoes ... too much work to actually chase them...
