New Cat Smell

Today when Mom came home I noticed her sniffing the air.

"It smells kinda... catty in here..." She said.

Imagine how pleased I was that she had taken a moment to acknowledge all my efforts here at the H.C. I'm a single cat as you know, so I have to put in the overtime to get the place smelling just right.

I mean there is floof to leave... everywhere, stinky wet-food to leave behind in my dish (and you know there are times when I'd like to lick my dish clean, but I forgo), and frequent trips to the litter box. Yes I work tirelessly to make the place as catty and homey as possible, only the best for my family.

I'm a professional.

You can only imagine my disgust when she started opening windows, spraying air freshener and lighting candles. I mean who wants their home smelling like Lilac Blossoms? Or Clean Cotton? It's all too humany for me.

Does no one here appreciate all I do for them?

  2. Hahaha... I was just saying to myself... "Wow, my cats are sh*t machines" as they one after the other decided to use the litter box.

And... irony... my word verification is "pokemebut"

Anyway, I saw the comment mom left on my blog and I wanted to say that she has an amazing voice. I am sure that she will succeed! Because I have never, ever, met someone that is so good at relating the cat. There is cat people are there is everyone else (hey, no one can be perfect, right?) but us cat people, we need a voice! A champion to explain our love of felines. To delve into the intricacies of the cat. To make it funny and true to life.

And I believe your mom is that someone! Give her tickles Finny, she's a special one!

  3. Fin- Isn't that just like humans? You work and work to get things perfect for them, and they come in right behind you and leave a trail of flowery smells. We think they just can't help themselves sometimes.

  4. How insulting.
Do you need a few of us to come over and help you Re-Cat? Grayce can emit a poot that'll make your eyes water (it lingers as well) and we can shed with the best of 'em.
Say the word and we are THERE!

  5. What a relief! When I saw the title, I thought maybe your humans had brought home a new cat! And that is one new cat smell that no kitty likes!

  9. How discouraging for you, Fin. I hope this doesn't happen too often. If your Mom is anything like mine, she will backslide and let things get back to normal soon.

  12. Opening windows to freshen up - what a cheek after your hours of toil getting everything just so for her - give her the back of disrespect and a fart!!

  13. Sumtimes beans just don't appreciate us cats, do they? I mean I did my bit this morning by vomiting my brekkie back ~ but did mom appreciate my efforts? No.

  15. Tiger and GK say: RIGHT ON FIN!
Like you, they expend much energy on getting that perfect new cat smell for everyone's household enjoyment, and I always come around to ruin it for them!

  17. They are so rude. Seriously. Cat smells are GOOD smells.

  18. Great post! The one that get's me - is that the second that I pour the fresh cat litter in the box one of them must instantly jump inside and do their thing. It's like a competative event, who can mess it up first.

  20. We have the same problem with our humans. Open ing windows and spraying flowery stuff around the house.

  21. LOL, Fin you are very funny and always make Mom laugh. That is very rude of your hoomans to spray and etc.to get rid of the catty smell. We do work hard to get it smelling just right. So just keep working at it Fin. Don't give up.
    Have a great smelly day.

  22. Fin, we understand very much. The good side at our house for us is mom can't get the windows opened anymore because they have been shut too long so our odors continue! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

  23. Our mom has been known to do the same thing - we just don't understand it. We think it maybe is a way to be sure we have somethign to do - getting it all smelled up again!

  24. We TOTALLY agree! That's why, as soon as Momma cleans our litterbox, we have to get right back in it and, um, leave an air freshener.

    **wink**

  25. How could she be so thoughtless as to put all your hard work to waste?

  28. We took in two cats for a friend of our boy a couple years ago. They stayed in the basement for 3 weeks and one of them enjoyed marking up nearly everything he could angle his butt up to. You should smell that place on still humid days!!
Mom's still working on that. Scooby is pooping in the basement corner refusing to use the litter box, so he's keeping up his end of the bargain for cattiness. Add in our 3 guinea pigs who poop & pee virtually nonstop & this place is basically a barn.
