No Cats on the Kitchen Counter?
This is a silly rule. As a young cat I broke this rule pretty frequently. I didn't hang out on here for long back then, as the fridge and cabinet tops beckoned. Now that I'm a grannycat I need a little luck and timing to break this rule.
The counter's too high for a full frontal assault so I have to wait for my parents to leave a chair pulled out, or the TV stand to be placed just so. As soon as I see an opening, I am all over it.
On a side note Mom appears to be breaking the rules of spelling... it's actually Scofflaw but at some point she got it in her head (and on my badge) as Scafflaw. So we're rolling with it.
I think it's funny. We're even breaking the rules of spelling!!! Ha!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have that rule, too, but mom finally gave up and had it removed from the books.
ReplyDeleteBTW, we like your mom's spelling better anyway!
~Casper and Angel~
I am afraid this SIF is too old to be breaking too many rules these days. :sigh:
ReplyDeleteMy human says that at her dad's house, the cats actually get fed on the kitchen counter! So your humans seem to be a little confused about what is not allowed.
ReplyDeleteP.S. One of my commenters mentioned that "scafflaw" is actually an alternative spelling of scofflaw, so both are correct!
Well. This is a silly rule. We live on the counters!
ReplyDeleteFin, we'll be over with your counter ladder right after our late mid-morning nap...
Rules are just excuses for us to be naughty :)...Those counters look so much better with you on them, beautiful Fin!...xoxo...Calle, Halle, Sukki
ReplyDeleteWe's loving Scafflaw Week.
ReplyDeleteSol posted for Scafflaw Week today, check it out.
Also, it's kinda cool tha word itself is misspelled, kinda like breaking anuffur rule.
Hee hee hee.
Love & Purrs,
KC
Wait, you're not allowed on the counter? *gasp*!
ReplyDeleteSidenote, remember when I said that I was going to send you something in the mail, I finally got around to it! So, keep an eye out!
My Lucy loves to jump up on the kitchen worktops but she never jumps up on the one with the hob-clever kittie!

Oh Fin good to see you leading the way this week!!!
ReplyDeleteWe prefer Scafflaw! 'Cos like Cory said, we are EVEN breaking the spelling rules! MOL!
ReplyDeleteCATS ROOL! DOGS DROOL! (Tee hee!)
Hey Fin - we're breaking the same rule today!! Scafflaw works for us even if it does upseet spell-chick.
ReplyDeleteSniffie and the Florida Furkids
we love a fellow cat with spirit and look forward to be grandads one day with the same risk taking qualities as you! Love Darcy and Bingley xx
ReplyDeleteWe love the counters too! Bathroom, kitchen, it's all good!
ReplyDeleteEven though I don't get on counters, I am with Sparkle about some cats actually being fed on counters. My folks used to feed their cats on the counter when my human siblings were small, so they did not play with the catfood. And their first kitty Smudgie was fed on the counter when he lived with Mom's parents, because otherwise their dog would have eaten his food.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, since you know it is against the rules in your house, good Scofflaw work, Fin.
Scofflaw, scafflaw, it's all the same. Kitties doing what they want!
ReplyDeleteI get on the counter. I get on the table. I get on the laundry. I scratch the sofa. Gee, I guess that makes me a scofflaw too!
ReplyDeleteI gets on the counter all the time. I does it so much Mommy has almost forgotten the rule. ~Scylla
ReplyDeleteThat never could be a rule in our house...counters were meant for us to sit on, right?? Wally even gets fed on the counter!!
ReplyDeleteToo many rules being broken over there!
ReplyDeleteHi Fin, Thanks for visiting my blog yesterday. We think your Sca(o)fflaw week was a fantastic idea and tons of fun!
ReplyDeleteBreaking the countertop rule seems to have universal appeal - LOL!
How can you be made to sit on the floor when all the tastiest smells come from the worktops.
ReplyDeleteWe think that Scafflaw sounds so much better!
ReplyDeleteRules schmules! What's with this counter thing anyway? Our human won't let us up on ours, either, when she's around. What we do when she's at work is another matter!
ReplyDeleteWe sit on the counter and table all the time, so that is not a rule Fin. And this is very exciting, we have our very own spelling for the word Scafflaw, so it just becomes a part of cat language. Besides it makes it all the funnier.
ReplyDeleteHave a super day.
That's the only rule we actually follow in our house.
ReplyDeleteFin
ReplyDeleteWe're simply gonna break all of the Mom's rules -- spelling included!

ReplyDeleteWTG Fin...break them rules!
ReplyDeleteWell if you can break the rules....why not your mom? Good job on the counter, we like how you're kind of camoflaged......
ReplyDeleteI love this and mum is going to post it for me too.. HUgs GJ xx
ReplyDeleteWe aren't allowed on the counters either, but it is a great place to sunbathe when no one is looking.
