How was your weekend friends? We hope you had a good one. Mom had a great time with her visiting pal, lots of fun and lots of frolic, the rest of the weekend had its ups and downs.
Things took a dicey turn on Saturday at Casa De Housecat when the A/C went out, again. Yes, on the hottest day of the year in the desert southwest, our A/C went down for the count. I spent the afternoon lolling on the granite hearth, it's nice and cool. Mom on the other hand tended to lose her cool. We are all chilled up now, thank Cod.
Sunday night Mother Nature decided to have a fireworks show all her own. A big storm with thunder, and pouring rain - very dramatic - rolled thru our side of town. I spent the evening in the closet. It seemed as good a time as any other to do a little blanket check (all were accounted for).
It was so nice in the closet, I spent Independence Day evening there too. I'm not a fan of the fire in the sky. I did enjoy some lazy lap time in the afternoon as Mom attempted to watch the last Harry Potter movie. I have no idea why (because there is plenty of excitement) but those movies put her right out. We call it the Potter Narcolepsy. Fifteen minutes in (this one she made it to almost the forty minute mark - I was hopeful) and she is snoring loud enough to keep a kitty from enjoying her nap, almost. Luckily I can sleep through almost anything.
Mol! You are funny, Fin! We haf blanket checks at our house, too! (Ours are accounted for and adequately furred.) Thank Cod your AC is working again! Purrs
ReplyDeleteHa..Ha..Ha.. the director of Harry Potter movie must cry..to put your mommy to sleep : )
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day Fin
xoxo
ACK! No a/c? OMC!
ReplyDeleteWe hope your Mom turned the fan on for you.
Sylvester just about jumped outta his fur suit with the lightening strikes and booms last night. Poor guy spent the evening inspecting Mommy's bed slats.
All rooms need to be inspected at least once a yeat to make sure that there is no changes done without permission. Fin now you know that the closets are purrfect.
ReplyDeleteOops I meant once a year not once a yeat what is a yeat? Something for cats.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, we are pretty blase about fireworks. Maybe it's because they are far from us and nobody in our fire-prone neighborhood dares to set them off.
ReplyDeleteFin, theese is excellent that you had a nice place in the closet counting blankets when the fireworks were on. We really enjoy your posts, excellent writing. We will have to come back here and do some serious reading...Thanks so much for your purrs, we really appreciate them.
ReplyDeleteFin dear,
ReplyDeleteWe had heaps fireworks when we lived Down Under. Thank Cod, not anymore. At least, the humans here consider fireworks as a waste, burning money. Might as well feed the poor with the funds. Closet is good, kitchen cabinet is also good. Sometimes even inside the washing machine but make sure your mom sees you in there. har har har *evil laughs*
Maybe if you made biscuits on Mummy's lap during Harry Potter, she could stay awake till the end of the show? ;)
ReplyDeleteFin you need to learn shiatsu, that'll keep mom awake. Potter puts me to sleep too, but Austin knows how to CATapault me out of my slumbers!
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone survived the celebrations!
Harry Potter puts your mom to sleep? We think that's quite funny!
ReplyDeleteGlad you survived your 4th of July...and Nature's fireworks!
We hope your mom gave you treats for counting the blankets for her -it was so kind of you to take that task on for her. We laughed at your mom falling asleep in Harry Potter - did he put a spell on her?
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Glad to hear your A/C is fixed! I don't like fireworks either, plus we hadded thunderstorms too, so I spent a lot of time UTB this weekend. The closet is a good spot too!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Our mom fell asleep in the theater and dropped a water bottle, which woke her up. She was lucky it was capped. Glad you have A/C back.
ReplyDeleteThank Cod! You are so funny!
ReplyDeleteNo A/C and fireworks too? Oh my goodness Fin, not a good way to start the week!
ReplyDeleteOMC! We agree wiv Brian ~ a drastic start to the week!
ReplyDeleteCloset blankie checks are *very* impawtant! Good job, Fin.
ReplyDeleteHi Fin and Mom! We are finally back to blogging as there were threats of shoe-pooing if the PM didn't get her act straight!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you were a bit roasty this weekend, yuck! The PM was your way mid-July when she got married, many moons ago, and couldn't believe how flippin' hot it was. She just kept saying "I love you, A/C!"
Good gravy Fin, no AC. That must have been just awful. We are glad you made it through that. And then storms. Yuck. We had them last night too and lost our electric for a long time. Hope your week gets better. Take care.
ReplyDeleteOMG I can't imagine the air breaking in that kind of heat. I would have been fit to be tied! So glad your "cool" is back!
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone had a nice weekend too!
Fin
ReplyDeleteWE hope you got your A/C all fixed up. I don't know what is worse, the dry heat or the humidity we have here. WE've lost our A/C in the summer here and couldn't live in the house.

We're not real fond of fireworks, either, Fin. Those are bad enough. But no a.c. either ... yikes!
ReplyDeleteFin, it was pretty noisy here all weekend. We're just glad all this 4th stuff is over now!! And thank cod your a/c is back!!
ReplyDeleteMum and dad have slept through that movie The Day After Tomorrow, and every one of the Bourne movies. They laugh every time one of them is on TV.
ReplyDeleteFin, the closet seems to be a great place to be around the 4th or days before it and after. Too much noise! We are glad you got the AC going again! Lots of love, Debbie & Holly
ReplyDeleteWe can't imagine having no A/C when it's that hot out!!!
ReplyDeleteMom just got the last Harry Potter movie from Netflix.
Thanks for coming to our blogoversary party!!

Well, Fin, all in all, it sounds like you had a bang up weekend; fireworks and all.
ReplyDeleteBut no air? The horrors. That would be devastating.
