Reporting From

I took this picture awhile back and it looked like my girl - you can hardly see her - was walking on rainbows. There is a poem we animal lovers turn to for comfort at times like this about how beloved animals wait for us at a rainbow bridge till we meet again. At the bridge they are healthy and well again and are surrounded by other loved ones.

I imagine my girl in the heavens bossing around the very elements. She was prone to that on earth and with her new powers I think her reach will be limitless. The night she passed, a sudden thunder storm lit up the sky and the super moon was just getting back to size. I pictured her bossing the heavens around and it brought me joy.

I bet she's already met up with The Ones That Came Before - Eugene and Kirin. After a couple of hisses I bet they are getting along famously - forming a coalition to get things together in our lives.

I hear them telling me to dry up those tears, and they were less frequent today. We were so touched by all your kind words and feel the hugs of friends and lurkers from all over the world. Somehow knowing how many lives she touched eases our pain.

I think the coalition is searching for the perfect little furry being to carry out Fin's orders. My alarm clock has failed the last two mornings and I know she thinks I can't get up on my own. They'll pick "The One Who'll Come After" very carefully - full of sass, a sense of humor and lots of blogging potential.

Until the coalition sends The One Who'll Come After to us, I think I will take a few days off. Then I think I'd like to tell you some stories about Eugene and Kirin.

  1. We're very sure Fin is reaching out to you. There will be many tears and take the time you need to heal. We're positive there are several angel kitties above watching our every move and guiding our decisions.

  6. We look forward to hearing stories about Eugene and Kirin. I have purrsonnally asked all of our guardian angels to be on the lookout for Fin and to make sure she knows she is among friends. TWCB are amazing at picking out TWCA. Our Maggie angel had an angel paw in getting me and my momma Ellie in the right place at the right time.

    Purrs,

  8. We are looking forward to hearing from TWCB...and we think all of us Cats are in for wonderful sunbeams all year long, now that Fin can boss around Mr. Sun directly and not have to pen her famously funny missives. We'll miss those, a lot.

  14. We're glad your heart is open to another, and yes, when the time is right, s/he will come into your lives.

In the meantime, take as much time as you need. Dealing with grief can be quite a roller coaster, healing never is a linear process.

  20. Hm - by coalition you mean one little boss-girl and two obedient followers aren´t you?
No, Finny certainly can´t imagine you coping with your daily work on your own. She will already be plotting up there.
Til then: mourn and heal and be well, dear Meg. And let Fin speak through you ever so often again!

  25. Nothing wrong with crying about Finny. That picture is so great. And we know that Fin is probably got everyone under her paw by now. Glad to see you writing about your thoughts. I find that so helpful in the grieving.
We can't wait to hear about Eugene and Kirin. That will be great fun. Keep your chin up Meg and the right furry animal will present itself when it is time and for sure Fin will have picked it out.
Good to hear from you. Take good care of yourself.

  26. The photo just gave me chills...I believe that was her way of communicating with you, by having you find that photo again.

You will KNOW when it is the right time and the right cat...I know you know that.

I agree with the others who said it is ok to cry.....it is....

Wish I would hear from my Angel Bobo to see if Finny looked him up...I bet she is bossing him around as we speak.

The truest words of all: I will not forget you. You are in my waking thoughts, my sweetest memories, my dearest dreams. I will not forget you. You have touched my soul, opened my eyes, changed my very experience of the universe. I will not forget you. I see you in the flowers, the sunset, the sweep of the horizon and all things that stretch to infinity. I will not forget you. I have carved you on the palm of my hand. I carry you with me forever.
