Dot's Gone

I'm very broken up today. One of my favorite toys, Dot, has passed. I think she may be a friend of yours too. How I will miss the sassy red spot of light that was my Dot.

Dot has been my friend for years. She is very mysterious. She appears out of nowhere, often when I least expect to see her... always when my parents are home (It's like she's drawn to their energy). I think she must visit other cats too, cause I've seen pictures of other cats playing with her.

When she comes by, she races around the house as I follow closely behind her. Just when I think I have her... I'm left with nothing.

She used to race all over the furniture, but she's aged right along with me, and I noticed she was slowing down recently... just raced on the floor, and she seemed less bright. I almost caught her a few times.

I noticed yesterday that Mom was whacking her house (a small red metal cylinder) and looking inside to see if she was in. Suddenly Dot appeared right on Mom's face (boy was Mom surprised when I pawed her cheek). Dot seemed to keep going back in the house, and Mom had to keep knocking it to have Dot come out.

"I think Dot's battery is dying Finny..." Mom said in gentle tones, and then Dot was gone.

Please join me in a moment of silence. I hope she is playing with cat's over the bridge.

  1. Maybe a trip to Wally's World can resurrect Dot.

  9. I think Dot has only gone on a vacation. How long she is away will depend on your Mom's generosity, unfortunately. Mom will have to make it clear to Dot that she is welcome back.

  13. Oh Fin, something is wrong with our Mom. She is laughing so hard, she is crying. By the way, we have some of Dot's children here so we will have a little service for Mom Fin Dot. We are so sorry to hear about your loss.Take care

  14. We are so very sad about this. Truly. But... we join with others here in hoping, believing (against all odds, purrhaps) that that mysterious creature called "new battery" will restore Dot to you. May it be so!

  15. Perhaps Dot will come back as Spot? Bigger, better and more powerful!

  16. We suspect Dot may not be gone - just on vacation. A short trip by your mom to the store should bring her back pretty quick....

  17. Did your mom dig a hole in the garden and bury Dot and place some pretty flowers there?? Perhaps she has a sister or a niece who could come and play with you.

  20. Well, Fin, "The Boys" and I are sad, too, that "Dot's gone".

We have seen her (or a replica of some sort) around here...but not for a very long time. Bowie gets too excited and can't catch his breath so we stopped having Dot come over.

We'll keep our paws crossed for you that Dot comes back.

A Dot is like a phoenix, the next one will be even better, swifter and brighter!

  23. you can have my "Dot" if you would like her. My Mom made me break up with her. She said I got too excited playing with her and all (you know "Dot" has that effect on the mancats)....I would pant and pant and the vet said no more "Dot"...that hussy....lol

  25. Ohhh poor Fin!! My babies wanted me to tell you that if your mom is better then their mom (aka ME) you should have Dot revived in no time, unlike their lazy mama who keeps forgetting the magical Dot fuel at Target.

  26. Oh, we thinks you just need to feed Dot. She eats those battery thingys and then she is good as new. So tell your Mommy to go buy Dot some food.

PS: You should tell your Mom to keep some extra Dot food around just in case she gets hungry again. We thinks she hibernates when she is hungry.

  27. Fin, we are so very sorry to hear about Dot. Perhaps she can be helped and is not entirely gone forever? We will have a moment of silence for Dot though in case Dot is gone for good. (PS: After the laughing stops) Lots of love, Debbie and Holly
