My Good Times - Ruined

I had an awesome weekend of porch time planned, and Mom was planning on curling up on the sofa with Dad and a pile of movies. It couldn't have sounded better to me. Mom was going to make-up for all the "hard work" she's been doing all week (her words - not mine) by spending some quality family time with us.

Friday she stayed at her work till 6pm. Saturday she went in at 8am and did not return till 11am. Sunday was the worst.

I had finally been allowed out on the porch, and I was sniffing and rolling. The Pawparrazzi was hot on my trail but it was lovely just the same. Suddenly she heard the ring of the bat phone, and I was shuttled inside.
The rest of the day she was "working from home".

It got me wondering what it is she does all day at this "Work" place? Mostly she talked on the phone and used her computer... and she does that here - for free. I guess she's pretty good at it, but I don't know that I would pay her for it. Not sure what I thought she did, as long as it didn't involve snuggling and playing with other cats all day. Do you ever wonder what your humans do for work?

She better have big plans to make all this up to me this week. I'm just saying.

  1. Fin, I so understand you. My mom was gone for two days except for the nights and the kitties and myself were totally alone. I have no idea what they do but I sure hope they aren't visiting other cats and dogs instead of staying with us!! If you find out, please let me know! Lots of love, Holly

  2. Well, I at least know what my human does for work - she works for me! Anything else she does is goofing off. Are you SURE yours is actually doing "work?" She could be faking it, and just shirking more important duties, like changing your litter box or researching for some new treats or hunting all over the internet for a new feather monster toy like the old one you used to have. THAT is proper work for a human.

  3. Well, our Daddy "works" from home, mostly herding cats, according to him! Mommy goes away almost every day but that's OK cuz it means breakfast is at 6 AM. We about starved when she was on staycation.

  4. We've been wondering for years about what mom does. I think it involves people and computers and buildings and stuff. We only know this because Grete has been in the car when dad has dropped off mom. Grete said mom disappears into a building that Grete has never been allowed inside to see. She comes out of the same place at night. We are working on getting Grete inside to investigate...

  5. Poor Fin, you only had a short time on the porch! We always read about humans leaving and our Daddy always leaves for work but our Mummy does nothing, nothing at all. She eats and naps, most of the day. I tell you, that is even more strange! Mawhawhaw!

  6. Greetings Fin,

Sorry to hear that the weekend was washed out and I am sure mum is going to try and make it up. Even here at our house I watched the humans and supervised them at work. Sadly afterwards they were too tired to spend time with me.

    Wishing you all the best,
    Miss Kitty and Egmont (dad)

  7. Fin, That's poor thing for your weekend.

The word " Work " for me might be " Territory " like we have to lprotect our space, human might be the same but one thing I won't understand why they are so tired from work ! me...just lie down and watching. I might have to run a little bit but the end of the day, I still got so much energy and ready to play.

I think your mom will make up for you this weekend : )

  8. We have no idea what our human does, just that she's gone 5 days a week for a long time each day! She says as soon as we start paying the mortgage and bills and buying the food she'll be happy to stay home and wait on us every day. :-P

  9. We're not sure what our human does but we know she is never happy when her alarm goes off at 5:15!

  12. You don't want to know about our traitor mum. She comes home stinking of other cats and dogs and talking about how cute Jack was today, or how funny Tootsie is. And don't get us started on our arch enemy, the nefarious KITTEN! Some call him the vet cat, I call him the dastardly cuddle thief.

  13. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you Fin, those weekend porch whiffs are very important. I'm sure she will make it up to you!!!

  14. Oh that STINKS!! Your mom obviously has her priorities mixed up. We know exactly what Momma does at her 'other' job. When people order stuff from "we don't want to say where . com" she packs the orders up to be shipped. Just like she does with our cat toys! But I think they pay her more than we do. However she has her priorities straight and next year she's hoping to go to a 4 day or even 3 day work week so she can spend more days with US!!

  15. Work is boring! I like the idea of spending the day curled up with you and a stack of movies.

  16. Wow, Fin that stinks that Mom had to work all week end and you didn't get much outside time.Your Mom does need to be retrained to the fact that you are the important part of the family and should come first in all events.Take care and have a good week with more time whiffing.

  17. We don't like this work stuff either...it interferes with our play and cuddle time!! We hope your mom makes it up to you, Fin!

  18. Maggie May and Ziggy have gone to work with our mom before. She basically talks on the phone and messes with the computer.

  19. she owes you big time. We don't know what ours do either. Bing camps on the mat by the front door though to ensure he is right there when gets in. Love Darcy and Bingley xx

  20. Our Mom does the same kind of 'work'! In fact, she's doing it here today in her pajamas even though it's a holiday in Canada! We think that if it can be done in pajamas, it's not work. But hey, she brings home the tuna, so someone thinks it's work.

  21. We hope you gave your mom the back of disrespect after all the promises she made you were broken on the ring of a phone. Why don't you try and get hold of her phone and poop on it.

  22. That ol' work thing is a bummer! Demand more snuggles and speak about it in the night. Make hourly announcements!

  23. My mom leaves every weekday and comes home smellin' like Sticky Kids and DOGS! There's a Border Collie I was friends with over at that Sticky Kid place and a BOXER! The boxer slobbers all over mom..I wrinkle my nose at her when she pets me.
