Lock Down

Well I'm in some trouble friends. It turns out that no one here appreciates my waking skills. They appreciate them at 5:40am when the alarm never went off, but beyond that... Go figure.

I was really enjoying boning up on my skills during Mom's recuperation period. I was practicing my hip leaps and various other moves with little repercussion... and I'll admit it, I was showboating. It's a problem I have sometimes. Just because you can, doesn't always mean you should kitties.

When you say to yourself at 3am, I bet I could wake her with two pounces and a paw to the face, you need to ask yourself - is this going to get me in trouble? If you can pull off the starving kitty face, you may get yourself out of the hot seat, but when you don't need anything and tell her that when she's standing at your full dishes, she won't like it much. Again, go figure.

I've been warned that any funny business tonight may get me in a lock down situation. I may be locked out of the family bedroom. I suspect I will be unable to resist pawing and meowing at the door at the indignity of it all. I'm practicing my most pitiful face in case it's needed, wish me luck.

  1. What?! That would be unfair imprisonment! Isn't that against the law?

  2. I wrote to everyone a few days ago about the same thing..my waking skills which are unimpeachable and mom. Me 1 Mom 0. She gets irritated with me. In her own blog she told what it was like to lock me out of the bedroom and what happened..that was several months ago. She has since given up and I romp on her and call out loudly at will each day. I almost..almost feel sorry for her cause she's so sleepy.

  4. Whoa! I don't know what we'd do if we got booted from the bedroom. I mean I don't care too much but my momma Ellie and Nigel and Bennette and Grete...whoa...

Be careful Fin. Sometimes you gotta keep your talent to yourself. The thought of you mewing helplessly while locked in a room on the other side of the house is just too much to bear.

  7. Mommy recommends rum at bedtime. Not for you, Fin, but to lull you Mom into a proper drunken stupor. she'll sleep like a baby depite your best efforts. Waking up may be a pain, but it is anyway, right?

  11. Hey, SIF, time to keep a low profile. Sometimes, you can overdo things. As you know, even if you could, maybe you really shouldn't.

  14. 3 am is definitely a bit early. Sounds like you have the proper time for playing confused. Because you are a senior cat, your Mom needs to be sympathetic.

If you get locked out (or into another room) I hope there is some carpeting for you to pluck to convince them never to do that again. Ask my cousin Audrey about carpet plucking.

  16. She couldn't lock you out-could she? 3am is the time I like to sing to the moon. I go out in the garden and walk around under the bedroom window singing as loud as I can so the Cat in the Moon can hear me. Mum yells at me to shut the &%^* up and then dad wakes up and grumps at mum because she woke him up.

  18. Fin we fear you went one paw too far last night - we think a few quiet nights are in order - in fact so quiet your mom has to keep waking up to make sure you're still breathing.

  20. Oh no Fin, not locked out of the bedroom. Maybe you had better be careful for a little while. You can come stay here, our assistant can't even close the bedroom door. It is broken.
Good luck Finny. Hope it works our for you.
    Have a wonderful Wednesday.

  22. Fin, this is so unfair!! They shouldn't lock you out!! And if they do, do what we do...scratch at the door until they let you back in...works every time!

  24. When you're starving at 3AM, any action you take is reasonable, in my opinion.
