Mittens Monday

While sitting at my window post I see a lot of this character...

It's a toy mouse - though Mittens is a birder.
I trill and chirp to him every time. He yowls at the door till one of my parents goes out to give him a snack. He really likes my kitten food. Mom says he is soft like butter now.

Despite all my friendly chatter - 10 out of 10 times he hisses at me.

I have never been anything but polite to him. Then today I decided to take matters into my own paws. When Mom opened the door to give Mittens his snack I scampered outside.

I did not approach him directly, but I did get to within 3 feet of him. He kept his eyes on me but no hiss! Maybe he's finally decided we can be pals. He used to be so polite to Finny so paws crossed.

  1. Now Quill, that dashing outside can get you in very big trouble.

  2. We agree with Brian. Mittens looks nice - can he come inside and be part of the family?

  3. Well, Quill, you're still a kitten so you may not know this but... very often a boy kitteh and a girl kitteh like each other in ways that two boy kittehs just don't. So there is more hissing then.

  4. I'm trying to picture in my mind the two converse images your mum gives of you,

    "ample sized'
    &
    "scampered'

    MOL

It's very funny and I'm totally MOL'ing in my mind.

  12. Give him some time and some space. MEANWHILE, you must NOT scamper outside. We agree with Brian - it is dangerous!

  15. I bet you two can become great friends. Most cats like kittens and Mittens can show you the ropes outside. Fin used to go outside once in a while. We also hope you can be good friends. Take care.

  18. Dood! He just had ta meetcha up close & purrsonal like, probably. We had a brief fling with freedom yesterday too. The wind blew the garage door open while Mommy was outside. We nearly gave her heart failure when she saw us traipsing around!
