Mom on Monday

Sunday morning I went to wake Mom at 4am. She fussed more than usual about feeding me, but despite all the complaining she did manage to scoop me out a small portion of food.

At around 5am I noticed again that I was hungry. Sure it was a bit early for second breakfast, but I was hungry. Suddenly she complained about waking up by saying something like "Blah, blah, blah... something about being kept up for three mornings in a row, and making a point" I don't know, I mostly tuned out most of it, cause my tummy was growling, well, sort of.

Had I been a little... aggressive about getting her up the last few mornings? I guess, from her perspective, I might have been, but really there's lots to get done and the day doesn't start on it's own. So yes, there may have been lots of meowing and pawing to get her out of the bed.

She started flailing about and said something like "absolutely not... blah, blah, eat your dry food" then buried herself in covers. After about an hour of meowing, I decided to let her sleep in.

At 7:30am (I know! Can you believe it? It might has well been Monday.) she finally rousted herself out of bed. When she complained about being really stiff - I blew a silent raspberry in her directions.

  1. The NERVE. Have you not trained the other one...do you call him dad or pops?...to fill in when your mom blows off your most basic vital needs? That's what I've done. And occasionally it yields me not one, but TWO bowls of food. YESSSS!!!

  2. This is an outrage! Fin, you have to nip this blatant disregard for your needs in the bud before it escalates into a SITUATION.
    Our suggestion is simple: claws.

  3. We found the purrfect solution...a feeder that provides food 24/7!

  4. Fin, we totally understand! A kitty has to eat and have the food topped off at least once an hour!!! Lots of love, Debbie, Holly, Lilly & Angel

  5. I do not understand the Mom's need for a full nights sleep if they took a bunch of naps during the day like us there would be no grumbling when we want our morning meals. Answering a Meowing should be the priority.

  6. tsk tsk tsk... your mom needs retraining, Fin. And put her priorities in the right order. purrrr *giggles*

  7. Fin, I must confess, I am the last one out of bed almost every day! Even my human wakes up earlier than me. So we don't have this issue.

  8. Apparently the pecking order of the household is messed up! Your needs should be met first and foremost! Then, efurrything else will fall into place. Happy Monday!

  9. We only get to eat when Mummy and Daddy feeds us. We NEVER get fed when WE want to be fed. We need tips on how to train our pawrents...

  11. We don't understand your mom's problem. You know how early we get our mom up every day. Heck, she woke on her own before 3:30AM today and rolled out to feed us and let us out back and make her coffee. Feel free to visit us anytime, Fin, we have our mom very well trained! ;-)

  12. Your mom is getting furry selfish Fin - fancy expecting to sleep when you were fainting with hunger.
We hope you gave her toes a sharp bitey.

  14. What's this world coming to Fin? The same thing happened to us yesterday. Mom slept in and we starved...STARVED for a whole 2 hours past our normal feeding time.

Dry kibble is not acceptable breakfast.

  16. I was so nice to my mom, too, Fin. I let her sleep for many, many hours while her medication had her all knocked out. I gently laid on her and meowed in a chiming sweet voice. She petted me sleepily, but did I get new food? She said to eat what was there. Hmmph. So I threw up.

  17. Oh Fin, you need to do some fine tuning on that Mom. She is digressing about getting up for your meals. We have the same problem around here but there are more of us so we can really raise a ruckus. Good luck on the next morning. Take care.

  18. I only wake up when my mama wakes up, so I don't haf this problem, but it sounds to me like your mom was being furry unreasonable! When you gotta eat, you gotta eat!

  20. Fin, we have to tell you, no matter how much we holler and yell, our mom will NOT get up early and feed us! Y'know what time we eat everyday?? 8am!! Can you believe that???

  22. Ah, getting the human up can be so hard some mornings. I mean, come on, the early bird catches the worm. Right? Besides, you can always take a cat nap later after all that work trying to get a tiny bite of food.

  23. It's terrible to have to beg for food, isn't it Finny??...Our Mommy gets up at 4-4:30 during the week, but she is useless on the weekend, thinking she can sleep until 7!...Happy week, beautiful friend...xoxo...Calle, Halle, Sukki
