Vegetarian?

I have a little secret. I wonder if I might have some "vegetarian" tendencies. So far the only meaty food I've shown a love of is poultry. I loves me some chicken and turkey is also acceptable.

I have been offered steak, and beef jerky. No interest. Ham? Meh. Cheese? No thanks.

I did sniff wildly at some pork on Mom's breath one night. I demanded a little taste, and I did like it.

So what do I like to request samples of? Avocado. It smelled so good. I've also dabbled with spinach (I wanted the stem), banana (Excellent for bunny-kicking), and tried to take a blackberries for a roll.

Mom is quite stingy with the veg - something about not knowing if something would make me sick. If you know of any veggies or fruits that are ample-sized kitten safe let me know.

So friends, are any of you closet vegetarians?

  4. Well, Coco actually doesn't like ANY people food. She will sniff it, but only sometimes, and when she does she makes a face and opens her mouth and gags like she's going to, um, barf. It's quite humorous.

  7. We're definitely meat eaters. One of our stinky goodness foods has peas and carrots in it and Zoey always leaves the peas! Haha!

  8. Quill, our mom's first cat had a thing for avocado too. She found this out after turning her back on some guacamole :D we think if you stay away from the pit, you're ok. Smidgen's new stinky goodness has peas in it and mom mooshes them up so she doesn't "pull a Zoey" we think we'll stick to meat! poultry types are really our fav too :)

  9. Quill, it is OK, we all experiment when we are young, dabble in things that are new and different.. it is how you learn who you are.

Temporarily turning on word verification didn't work for me. THe second I turned it off the spammers started up again, so I had to remove anonymous comments.

  10. I think Cory (http://corycattalks.blogspot.com) and her mom love salad greens a lot! Me, I'm not that into veggies and such... although I did lap up balsamic vinegar once! It made me cough.

  11. Mommy read that avocados aren't something kitties should eat. I, Tutu, eat anything and everything. I love my kibbles, cooked meat, raw meat, green leaves, bananas, yogurt, milk...

  12. Chicken and turkey make a lot of sense...they're birds. Fish, even though I like it, I don't know why. I never saw a cat fishing.
Beef. No. I never saw a cat tip over a cow.

  13. Leo wont touch any human food, not even chicken! Star eats quite a bit of it, but no real veggies or fruits, unless it's on a pizza...

  15. Cats must have some sort of meat in their diet. Skootch used to love the asparagus ends that Mom chopped off, and sometimes a green bean, and of course, cat greens (I think they are sprouted wheat berries). He even got into corn on the cob for a while. He always eats around the evil peas that lurk in some cat food.

  18. We have never had any vegetables so we just eat meat. Or whatever is in the canned cat food. But I think everyone is right about the avacado. We don't eat any of Mom's food. We lick her dish every now and then. It would be fun to swat peas around the room. Take care.

  20. Socks is his favorite foods are lettuce and tomato basil soup.

That said we know these are BAD for dogs so assume they may also be BAD (TOXIC) for cats avocados, grapes, raisins, onions.

  22. We don't like people food, not vegetables or meat. If it doesn't come out of a can or is running around in the field, we don't want to know. Mum says we are the first kitties she ever had who didn't want her food.

  23. Dearest Flooflet,

My favorite food in the whole world is salad greens...romain, spinach, Swiss Chard...if it's green and leafy, I come a running. Mom and dad can't turn their back on a salad plate.

    Motherly purrs,

    Ellie
